| Some questions about displaying photo information Under windows it is possible when using the "details" mode of viewing folders to choose the details displayed, notably the "date picture taken" and "camera model". I assume that that information is obtained from the "Exif"? data attached to, or imbedded in, the image.
Q1) Is it possible to get and display these two additional details under linux or is it a distribution specific question? I am using Mandrake 10.1 .
Also under windows, by 'right clicking' the image or its 'icon' it is possible to view the exif data and I would like to be able to do this under linux.
Q2) Is it possible to view the exif data under linux?
Ideally I would like to be able, under linux, to open the folders/directories containing the images and have, in a details viewing mode, some of the exif data displayed, eg exposure time, f.stop, exp adjustment etc.
So far I have used the std mandrake 10.1 web browser, I don't remember its name, to view the directories holding photos but as yet have been unable to display any 'fancy' details. Nor have I seen a method of doing it via the command line. I have had a quick look at, I think, GIMP but didn't see any possibility of using that but it was just a quick look at 'GIMP'.
