Question Updating FireFox

Hello,

I'm currently running Arch Linux and can't find a way of updating to FireFox 3, it's not showing on the Arch website either. Also it appears to be called Bon Echo. I just want the normal version 3 x64. How do I go about this?

Thanks.

I read somewhere in arch forums that the developer has a problem building firefox 3 xith xulrunner 1.9.

Anyway, you can still install Firefox3 from AUR. The easiest way is first to install yaourt (pacman -S yaourt) and then use it to install firefox 3 (yaourt -S firefox-official). in order to upgrade it later you should again use yaourt.

Read some stuff about AUR and yaourt to get a better idea.

In arch they have also changed Firefox's name and logos. The rest package is still the same from mozilla.

You can also download this pkgbuild, unpack it into your /home/username directory, and then as regular user run:

Code:
makepkg -c
Then install the newly created Firefox 3 package with pacman by gaining root permissions then running:

Code:
pacman -U /home/username/filename
Simple, and quick!

Oh, and I personally prefer removing the Firefox 2 package from my system before installing FF3.

Update...

Official Firefox 3.0 was added to the Arch 'extra' repo today.
