Configuring

Hi, I just installed Linux (Xubuntu) and I'm still figuring some stuff out. I just downloaded winrar (v. 3.80 beta 2), and I keep trying to install it (I've followed directions from several sources), but when I get up to the part where I need to configure the new directory, I type in the appropriate command and receive an error message. I've gone through the readme, and it doesn't say anything about any particular configuration procedure, so I was hoping someone here knew the answer. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Why do you want to use Winrar? Linux has file extractors that work very well (Ark, for example). What error message do you get? Can you also tell us what Linux distro you're on.

Edit: tell us too what file you want to download and extract. What I'm trying to get at here is that you probably don't need Winrar.
