Kernel compilation error

shariefbe Linux Newbie Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Trichy,India Posts: 175	Kernel compilation error Hi, I tried to compile an kernel. version no.2.6.29. When i unzip that tar ball i am the following error.i dont know why i am getting like this. Code: linux-2.6.29/drivers/block/swim3.c linux-2.6.29/drivers/block/sx8.c linux-2.6.29/drivers/block/ub.c tar: Skipping to next header gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--format violated tar: Child returned status 1 tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors sharief@sharief-desktop:~/Desktop/kernelroot$ This is the error message i am getting..why it is like this?can anyone help me? __________________ Thanks in advance...
