Hi Guys,

I can't seem to get my wireless connection up and running using Easy Peasy.

It was working before, but when I moved, I had to have internet set up at the new address. When speaking to the service provider, all the 'prompts' he was telling me to look for obviously weren't found as the only people THEY know how to help are Windoze users.

I'm sure it's just as easy and Peasy, but I'll be damned if I can figure it out!! Any help would be appreciated as I'm getting a bit tired of being attached to the wall!!

Look in the right hand corner, to the right of the battery there is a icon that looks like two computers(this is the network manager icon), right click on that. It should show you available wireless networks. If yours is hidden go to the bottom of the dialog that comes up and click on "connect to Hidden Wireless Network" it will give you a dialog box that you will need to put in the network name and what Wireless security you are using if you are. If you are using wireless security then put in your key/password.

Hi katmac. It's been a while.

Some details on your internet provider, and the modem/router that they provided, would help. You most likely have to enable the wireless function, as they are usually disabled by default.

The router can usually be configured by using a browser, like Firefox. You need to type the default router IP address into the browser, and this should bring up the router config pages. The router IP address depends on the brand and model.

EDIT: You can determine the router IP address using NetworkManager. Right-click the taskbar icon and select "Connection Information". At the bottom of the window that pops up, will be the "Default Route" and "Primary DNS". On my router/modem these are the same, and that IP address will bring up the config pages. Type it into the browser address window like this:

http://192.168.1.254

Use the address that you got from the connection information. How you enable the wireless will still depend upon the brand of router you have.

Hi Guys!

Thanks for all your help, but when I go to the icon at the top and click on it, I AM seeing the same setup I saw before. When I click on my name, it does start up and says, 'attempting to connect to wireless network'. But then I'm getting a pop up that reads,

Wireless Network Authentication Required

Passwords and encryption keys are required to access the wireless network

Wireless Security - WPA & WPA Personal
Password

There's a bunch of 'bullets' in the password box. There's a box to click that says 'show password' and when I do, it's just a bunch of numbers, certainly nothing I've chosen!

Those numbers are the encryption key. It takes your password and turns it into an encrypted key.

If you have a new modem/router/wireless-access-point, then you need to set up the password on it. This is what I attempted to explain to you in my last post. Without knowing the make/model of the unit, we can't offer much more help.
