i'm not really a newbie but not sure where to post this.

i have a 66 mastang that has no radio so i figured i'd put a computer in it.

since its a computer i'll probably want it to have a touch screen and do more than just radio (gps(with live trafic) internets and some other stuff).

what distro would be best for this?

i have no idea what hardware im going to use so if you have any suggustions thatd be helpful

Make sure the screen is not visible from the driver's seat.

it needs to be visable from the drivers seat if its not it makes it impossible to do things like gps

I don't really know for sure, but perhaps one of the distros used by the current netbooks would be good option for this purpose, but I'd think that the more it does and the bigger the touchscreen, the more it might become an auto insurance company's worst nightmare if it is to be usable from the driver's seat.

I think it depends on how much tinkering you are willing to do.

If you want a distro that's dedicated to your purposes, I'd say, ask someone else, for I don't know any suitable answer (maybe the distro used by Tomtom, which ever that may be). If you want to make it al your self, I'd go for LFS. If you want to work with easy packages, but still have an extendible system, I'd go for Debian.
