Sorry to bump the topic, but I don't think I can solve this with google. I don't really understand the error (the one above), and I'm also having trouble with running bittornado. That won't work either. I've configured my mailcap correctly to list the correct mimetype, however when I try to open a torrent file, it won't work. Is there some other step I'm missing? I am not sure how Python works, so when I found out I couldn't compile or install it, I got kinda scared and figured that it should be just left alone. Is there something I'm doing wrong with either?

Do you need a third-party version of Bittorrent? Try, if you haven't already:
Code:
yum install bittorrent-gui
Then save the torrent as a file and, at the console, type:
Code:
btdownloadgui.py <torrent file>
I've never tried using it by assigning MIME types, as I prefer to download using a text version at the CLI, but I can't see any reason for it not to work...

You have to use the alternatives system to select the Java installed in /opt and then reboot your system as described in the Notes. Also be sure to update everything including the kernel with "yum update" as root. Then it will all work.

i did the yum update and I followed the instructions exactly...

I extracted the Azureus_2.3.0.4_linux.GTK.tar.bz2 file into my home directory

I then opened the console went to the new directory and said "./azureus"

AND

Starting Azureus...
Java exec not found in PATH, starting auto-search...
Java exec found in /usr/java/jre1.5.0_04/bin/
Suitable java version found [/usr/java/jre1.5.0_04/bin/java = 1.5.0_04]
Configuring environment...
Loading Azureus:
/usr/java/jre1.5.0_04/bin/java -Xms16m -Xmx128m -cp "/home/zoltan/azureus/Azureus2.jar:/home/zoltan/azureus/swt.jar:/home/zoltan/azureus/swt-mozilla.jar:/home/zoltan/azureus/swt-pi.jar" -Djava.library.path="/home/zoltan/azureus" -Dazureus.install.path="/home/zoltan/azureus" org.gudy.azureus2.ui.swt.Main ''
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/gudy/azureus2/ui/swt/Main
Azureus TERMINATED.

Are you running a 64 bit version of Fedora? If you are running i386 (32 bit) Fedora Core 4 and follow the instructions in the Notes exactly for the installation of Java, Java applications, Java alternatives method, and Azureus it should work. I has worked for hundreds of users.
