apci = off
Aloha,
I got this recommendation from the Nvidia board.
>Can you try booting with the acpi=off and noapic kernel options and see if they have any >impact? You can append those options to the end of the 'kernel' line in /etc/grub.conf.
What is this used for and what does turning them off do? I would like to know before I do it. Mahalo

"noapic" turns off the local apic, apic = Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller, and I beleve it should be safe to turn it off.
"acpi=off" turns off ACPI power managment, this is safe, however the boot process may ask you to turn off the power on your system manually when the system is halted and ready to poweroff. The acpi may be buggy, probably the reason for them telling you to try without it.

acpi=off was the only way I could get FC3 to boot on my Sony Vaio laptop.
