    Good (free) game engine

I want to make my own games. But do not have time/skill to make a full game. So i want a game engine to help me with the base of it. I would like one that is available on linux and free so far i have come across Torque game engine ( but that costs money for a full version. Does anyone know of a good and free game engine for linux?

The Doom and Quake engines are free under the GPL.

    Warzone 2100
    Duke Nukem 3D
Shadow Warrior (based on the same engine as Nukem3D)

It also depends on what type of game you want to make.

There are excellent 3D engines available:

Perhaps you want something simple, 2D?

Or perhaps you have an exact type of game in mind and want an engine that caters specifically for it? (Baldur's Gate) (Fallout-like) (2D RTS) (2D RTS)

You need to be specific about requirements.
