Unhappy what do I need to do if one of my processes is a zombie?

Yes...

I typed top and got this:

top - 21:51:12 up 6:28, 2 users, load average: 0.72, 0.57, 0.54
Tasks: 80 total, 1 running, 78 sleeping, 0 stopped, 1 zombie

What do I need to do?

Reinstall?

Along with a kernel upgrade, this is one of the very rare reasons to force a reboot of your linux machine. You can, of course, leave the zombies hanging around the system - they may keep a little memory resouce allocated, but I dont think they'll create much drain on the CPU time.

Whatever you do, dont handle them the way they did on 'Dawn of the Dead'!
