Have you created a Nessus user and correctly entered that username and password?

have you started nessus?

Have you remembered to start the nessus daemon?

in Ubuntu/Debian the command for this is:
sudo /etc/init.d/nessusd start

In redhat, i dont know, try this:
sudo service nessusd -k start
or
sudo service nessusd start

I am having the same problem. I added a Nessus user with the command "nessus-adduser" which seemed to work. But when I try to login to the app (in the GUI) it gives me that error. Also, I tried to start the daemon, but I get three "no such file or directory" errors.

P.S. I am using Ubuntu. If you have a link to a Nessus setup guide that would be awesome!
