According to SCO's number of lines stolen, an additional 1 million lines of code were stolen during the 2.4 kernel update. By those figures then, Linus and all the kernel developers did no work, they just copied all the code. right.....

My favorite reaction so far was Liuns's. In response to the CEO of SCO's claims he just said "He's lying."

it turns out when SCO said 1 million lines of code, they in fact, were multiplying the number of lines they think were stolen by the number of people using linux.

In case you people didn't see it...

Linus, in an interview with eWeek said in one sentance, summed up what I think of the entire SCO case. eWeek asked him what he thought of the claimed number of stolen lines;

Quote:
eWEEK: For its part though, SCO has said that there are so many lines of code, and a variety of applications and devices that use that code, that simply removing the offending code would not be technically feasible or possible and would not solve the problem. Do you agree?

Torvalds: They are smoking crack. Their slides said there are [more than] 800,000 lines of SMP code that are "infringing," and they are just off their rocker. The SMP code was written by a number of Linux people I know well (I did a lot of the SMP IRQ scalability myself, personally), so their claims are just ludicrous. And they claim they own JFS [journaled file system technology] too. Whee. They're not shy about claiming ownership of other people's code—while at the same time beating their breasts about how they have been wronged. So the SCO people seem to have a few problems keeping the truth straight, but if there is something they know all about, it's hypocrisy.
go linus!

I corrected an erronous link in the SCO DDOS attack thread that points to an article recently released by E.S.R., concerning the alleged stolen code.

Seems SCO recently released some examples. The analysis by E.S.R. makes a total mockery of SCO's claims.

haha yea, I must admit that I get one hell of a good chuckle from seeing Linus Torvald say someone is smoking crack. good times good times.
