A graphic card problem

Hello.
I'm new to Linux. I've installed Mandriva 2008 spring (free). Everything is fine only my resolution is sticking to 1024 x 768 @60 HZ. But my actual screen resolution should be
1400 x 900. Mine is a Hp laptop with Nvidia 8600M GS .

Kindly help'

Have you installed the nvidia driver?
Open a terminal and try this if it`s installed:

How can i install ? I only know if there is a installer file i.e simply double clicking. Kindly suggest if possible.
