Hi guys i have Mandriva and Win. XP installed together on one hard drive.
So when i boot i get for options first one is the Linux second and third somthing else and the last one is the window.
Is anyone knows how to change the order?

go into mandriva control centre. go to the boot then booting options (i doing this from memory). you should see the booting order list with the options to add, edit, and delete.

To change the startup order, you need to edit /etc/lilo.conf or /etc/grub.conf (errr, I don't have grub, I cannot swear the adress is the good one) manually. For instance run (alt-F2) "kdesu kwrite /etc/lilo.conf)

But that's at your own risk, make sure to make a backup copy first !
BTW, would someone know what is "vmlinuz" ? I never found out

for grub it is:

/boot/grub/grub.conf

I think vmlinuz is just a common name for the kernel that is compiled. But I'm not sure.

he doesn't need to do any of that in mandriva. he only needs to change the booting order through the control centre. thats by far the least riskiest method. he shouldn't be messing around with the /etc or /boot directories unless he absolutely has to.

Errrr, i didn't see where the options to SORT (move one down, move another up) the boot options was ^^;;

so how did i manage to change the boot order by using mandriva control centre when i had mandriva installed?

We can change the boot option from there.
