BCM4306 help !!

Hello fellow readers,

I use mandrake linux 10.0 on an IBM laptop. I have a BCM 4306 wifi card, but I can't get it to work because Broadcom Corp. doesn't privide a linux driver for the card. I tried ndiswrapper, but I was not able to get it to work (I'm a newby by the way). Can anyone tell me where to find a driver, or maybe a different wifi card that has support for linux.

Thanks

What exactly is the problem you have with ndiswrapper? As far as I know, there is no Linux driver for Broadcom cards and ndiswrapper is your only choice.

As the other poster stated you will need to use Ndiswrapper along with the window drivers for that card (i think they will be bcmwl5.inf and bcmwl5.sys). Have you tried Ndiswrapper with these drivers?

Thanks for your time. I followed the instructions(wikipedia) up to make install. The program exits with errors. The following lines are the last lines of the make install message.

/home/amar/ndiswrapper-1.4rc4/driver/usb.c:850: error: invalid type argument of `->'
/home/amar/ndiswrapper-1.4rc4/driver/usb.c:852: error: invalid type argument of `->'
make[3]: *** [/home/amar/ndiswrapper-1.4rc4/driver/usb.o] Error 1
make[2]: *** [/home/amar/ndiswrapper-1.4rc4/driver] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.3-7mdk'
make[1]: *** [default] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/amar/ndiswrapper-1.4rc4/driver'
make: *** [install] Error 2

Thanks

So you are having troubles installing it, you have two options:
1. Use urpmi to automaticially download and install it for you i.e. as root execute the following command:
Code:
urpmi ndiswrapper
2. Download an earlier version of ndiswrapper e.g. 1.3 and try that.
