Dunno if this is any help to you, but Linux supports the 'sleep' command. I've played around with it, but not sure if that will strictly speaking hiberate your PC.
The syntax - in Bash for example - is:
sleep x
where x is the number of seconds you want to rest your system for.

I think the command is used in shell scripts where required.
Other than that you are talking about the power management features of Mandriva which can be found somewhere in your hardware settings. Sorry ... Using Windows XP all day today.
