Trouble Installing Mandriva

I have a 7800GT and I'm encountering the fuzzy gui display and eventual freeze and system lock up. I've encountered this problem with Fedora 4 and it involved changing the driver to default vesa. I'm using the Live CD and any help on enabling vesa on a live boot would be great thanks!

Currently burning a full 3 cd iso set of mandriva 10.1. I'm expecting the same error as before that i had with the live boot cd.

What method should i use to enable vesa vga driver at start up? Or will it allow me to choose the video driver during the initial install?

I've tried vesa driver and nvida and i'm still getting fuzzy screen with eventual full system crash. I have to then push the restart button. Any help would be much appreciated.
