Hi Guys.

I'm almost a total noob when it comes to linux but I realy want to learn so here's my problem...

I've currently Fedora Core 6 (zod) dual booted with Vista and I don't use fedora at all, I've heard that Mandriva is very good and that the "out of the box" compatability is brilliant so what I want to do is replace fedora but not vista now when I had a look at the installer it gave the option of upgrading fedora core 6 will this option replace fedora with mandriva and leave vista where it is in happy bliss?

P.S. A step by step guide would be nice becasue as I said I'm almost a complete noob!

Don't use the option to "upgrade". Choose to do a fresh install and install Mandriva in the partitions currently used by Fedora Core. Make sure you do not reformat any partitions you which contain data you wish to preserve e.g. your /home if its on a separate partition.

Cheers, so if I choose a clean install it will come up saying something like "install on existing linux partition" or something that obvious?

Yes, it will. The installer is pretty straight forward and not confusing.

cheers I think I'm gonna like using mandriva. P.S. do you know anything about using virtualbox?
