Amarok won't start

Hi, My amarok won't start after I did the update of amarok so I un-installed it,
Searched it and removed everything, downloaded it from the amarok website installed it, but I can't still get it working.

Hey,
Does it throw anykind of error? Did you installed amarok succesfully?.
I guess you need to grant permission to the file /.ICEauthority.
If still no success just after you tried to start amarok go to terminal mode type the below command and post the output.
#tail -f /var/log/messages

Try running it from the command line and post back any errors. If all else fails delete the configuration directories from it from .kde and .kde/config in your home directory.

I got these errors, but amazingly amarok started:O

I have tried starting it from the console before (just 2 h ago) I have tried fixing it for a few days now but nothing happened:O but now it worked

This isn't a solution as such, but I've found (from bitter experience) that updating packages can sometimes break them or reduce their functionality.

You might think about submitting a bug report to the Amarok dev. team if your problems continue for too long, or try reverting to an earlier version (that can sometimes fix things).

Did you update any other packages?

I know:/ no fun at all:/ I updated the Xine engine as well so the sound didn't work for a wile but I fixed that,

I can't go back to the old version of Amarok It says that I can't install it, I can only install the new version, thats why I tried to delete everything. But it kinda works now, if i run it from the console I normaly run everything from the console anyhow, so that doesn't matter.

I will report this to the Amarok dev. team, so they can provide this in the future, and maybe make the next version more reliable.

But thank you all for the help and your time spent helping me out this forum is GREAT and so is the people on this forum! thats one reason why I changed to Linux , Microsoft is expensive, and has hell lot of problems and nobody gives a damn about helping people out. I have not regretted even once switching to Linux and not using Microsoft at all.

Well Well Well, now I re-started and it seems to me that I have 2 Amaroks! but I don't know where the second one can be, when I type Amarokapp in the console then sometimes the 1st amarok starts, in the 1st one I have a black theme and the sound works, In the other I have an Orange theme and the sound doesn't work:S confusing!

Two amaroks! You might - as root - try:

find / -name *amarok* -print > amarok_files.txt

Then type cat amarok_files.txt. It's simple but effective for locating binaries: then you have a record and you don't need to keep typing in new commands.
