Configuring MySQL & PHP for OpenEMR

I finally did http://localhost/openemr/setup.php and it opened the following window:-

[Continue button]
but pressing continue button brings back to the same window!!!
How do I make sure that MySQL server is installed and available and PHP server is configured??

It worked.. but some missing pieces..
As suggested in http://www.bradymd.com/appliance/manual2/#0.Instructions%20for%20Building%20the%20OpenEMR%2 0Appliance|outline
I removed php5 and install php4 and it worked
I got beyond the continue button and a screen for password and local host server setup after setting firewall..
but the next screen is stuck at:

Step 3
Connecting to MySQL Server... OK.
Creating database...
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_create_db() in /var/www/html/openemr/setup.php on line 129dr_smit
