internet connection

Hi,

I just installed Mandriva Linux spring 7.1 free edition.
Intallation went smootly, no pob there.

but then, I notice I had no intrnet connection.

So I ran the setup for an ethernet connextion and specified all my ip adress like it used to be on my xp previous instllation.

Now the icon in the upper right says i'm connected on interface eth0 but no internet working.

Strange enought, even when I unplugg my network cable, this icon says i'm still conected.

It is my second install, and I followd the instruction very carefully.

What could be wrong? my network card is detected and seems ok,how can I update the driver with no internet connection?

Can we get you to open a shell and run the following commands so we can see what has been set up so far.

ifconfig -a
route -n
cat /etc/resolv.conf
ping www.google.com

You will need to run these commands as root. If you copy the output here we should be able to help you out.
