New to linux; trying to get internet
I just set up a the mandriva 2007 sping release on my system. Everything seems smooth except the ethernet and sound driver. I have a p5k Asus motherboard wich has onboard gigabit lan and onboard sound. They provide a driver for linux which it sais has been tested on suse and redhat. It sais it needs to be compiled against the kernel.
As a someone completely new to linux, I am tying to figure out how to do that. Without any programming knowledge is it even possible for me to get this working? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello
You should visit this link and read up on compiling software from source.
You'll need to copy the driver supplied with your motherboard into a directory, unzip it and compile it. Let us know how you get on: if you're lucky the driver might even work!
