Welcome to the forums!

If you are sure you burned the CD properly, you might try playing with some of the kernel boot options that are available to you by F-key right before the disk begins to boot.
Also note that 2008 is out now:
Mandriva Linux 2008 now availableoz

see the first time i booted it up fine. and i installed it to the hard drive. and then i booted it off hard drive and it went fine. then someone told me that i should go into control and disable acpi in the boot loader so i did. then i rebooted. and then it would not boot up after. it said basicly there was an error or some type and it sent me to a login screen where i could log in with username password and then it said repair filesystem 1 #
so i've been trying to boot off the cd since then to just reinstall it.
is there a way i can fix the install on the hard drive? itself.
