    want to use gnome

kde and me just aren't working... I miss gnome. The package manager says it's installed, but it's not a selection in the sessions menu at login??? How do I configure/use it?

Are you using Mandriva? That's what I understand by the forum you posted it in. In Mandriva, what package manager are you using? URPMI? Should be. That's what I recall since I used Mandriva.

Here's what you have to do:

    1. From the 'Find' field, select Package Groups.
    2. Search for GNOME.
    3. Uninstall all selected packages. Then reboot:
    sudo shutdown -r now
    4. Run URPMI again. Repeat steps 1 - 2.
    5. Select all packages and select install.
    6. No reboot is required. Just end your session and select GNOME from the logon options.

    Hope it works.
