    movies crash in mandriva 2008

Hey gang -- it's been a while since I've visited these forums and have no idea what my email address or username was back in the day so here I am, back and with a new problem!

I just upgraded to mandriva powerpack 2008 and whenever I open a video file or try to play a dvd in any of the available programs it closes out immediately. No error messages, the movie program simply closes without warning. Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks a ton!

edit: It only happens when I'm using the 3D Desktop, Compiz Fusion. I just now figured that part out. If any of you know how to make Compiz Fusion "play" nicely with videos, please let me know.

I met this problem in the Mandriva 2007 version and assumed that they had cleared it up by now.

Anyway the problem seemed to be down to some coding being in the wrong directory. I went onto Wiki with

    LinDVD crashes Mandriva as KEYWORDS

Run as ROOT and enter the following in a terminal window.

    cp /usr/share/lindvd/libivimandriva.so /usr/lib/
    ldconfig

    All the best,
