Well, I've done something that isn't recommendable at all: I've added the Mandriva 2008 main and main_update sources to my 2007 system's package manager, and installed the Gimp 2.4. It works!
But I've lost gwenview due to some dependency conflicts. I'm using GQview now instead. My XaraLX is crashing sometimes....
Who knows, maybe I'll have to move to 2008.
I've encountered some troubles mounting my secondary CD-ROM drive. It won't mount automatically as I've clicked on its icon. I had to make a directory for mounting, and to edit the fstab, and finally to mount it by hand. Still I could even watch .avi files with Kaffeine, wich IS a DEED, knowing I have only 16 MB of graphical memory.
Is Mandriva 2008 One free ?

How to install GImp 2.4 on Mandriva 2007
This is the full list of packages I've installed in order to get Gimp 2.4 working on my Mandriva 2007 without having side effects mentioned above. You'll need to enable the main and main_update repositoties of Mandriva 2008.
