Strange errors
This was a black day for the Mandriva 2007.
I'm persistently trying to install it on a dual-boot PC. I've installed it 5 times but never succeeded to rise up the system. It was always a strange filesystem-error at boot-up. I've formatted the entire HD with the built-in partitioner, but no use.
Then, I've killed the FAT sector with dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=512 count=1 And reformatted the HD with PartedMagic CD.
The sixth time I didn't let Mandriva to fornat anything so it had been installed, but afterwards I could not rose the hal-daemon. It was a failure again.
I have some ideas but I'm not certain:
1. The installation's DVD is damaged
2. Something wrong with the HD.
Do you have any similar experiences ? What would you recommend? If you need a CD/DVD catalogizer, give a try to my program:
