Java install problems
Hi everyone,
Very new to Linux, so am experiencing the usual problems associated with it!
I need help with Java please.
I have downloaded JRE java 1.5_14 into the /usr/java directory, and added the plugin to the Mozilla directory as instructed.
Installation process seemed to go ok.
But java does not launch when required.
I am running Mandriva One.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Do you mean that the java plugin does not work with Firefox or that you cannot access java related apps e.g. javac, on your system?

Java does not work with Firefox, and any situation requiring the java plugin it can't open it.

Can you enter about:plugins in your Firefox address bar. Is java on the list of available plugins?

Ok I think I have it...I was not supposed to copy the plugin into the plugins directory, but to set up symbolic link only; about
lugins ok now.
Thanks for your help.
