Install troubles

okay im a noob so be nice .
so everything is working up until i boot my laptop. when i boot everything starts working fine. the mandriva screen comes up then a box comes up that says starting up. it goes to the next screen and what appears to me to be a lot of errors occurs. down the bottom it says press enter to activate the console. i press enter and i get this...

-sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

We need more error then that
Let me explian that line:
sh -> Shell
cant access tty -> Cant open Terminal
job control turned off -> Dont know what Runlevel to sttart (if I recall correctly)

So, well post more errors please and we can help me

Also what kind of CPU do you run? And how did the install wend? Any errors?

Have you installed any updates recently? Something has gone wrong with menu.lst file.
Post the contents of /etc/fstab and /boot/grub/menu.lst files.

I agree. I stopped using Mandriva because I got sick of the automatic updates conflicting and screwing everything up. I usually turn those off now on my distros.
