Mandriva Linux installation problem{Solved}
I am on a Dell Dimension computer, and I went through a bit of the installation. After it asked me what time zone I was in, it showed a blank screen with a loading mouse on it. After a couple of minutes, it went back to a command prompt, and asked me my "locallogin" name and password. I have no idea what it is talking about. In fact, it won't even let me input a password! Please help!

Post your Machine's specs here. Which Graphics Card do you have?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

An NVidia series 6.

Its a Graphics Card problem only. Re-install Mandriva in text mode. Select existing Linux partitions in Partition Section. Its very easy to configure Graphics Card after installation.
Text mode installer is as user friendly too and you wont have to type any command. It uses minimal Graphics Capabilities.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
