Hi and Welcome !
Which Video Player are you using? What media format are you playing? Have you installed necessary codecs?
Execute this in Terminal/Konsole :
Post output here.Code:su - lspci | grep -i vga grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

sorry I thought, I'm replying to a thread, the forum didn't.
So my problem in Detail:
I'm using Mandriva 2008 and I'm trying to watch movies. I installed helix video player, mplayer, kaffeine, gxine and all are crashing or just not showing video output.
The problem with vlc is, when i start it from the console, it gives the following output after i loaded an divx-mpg:
X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 141 (XVideo)
Minor opcode of failed request: 18 ()
Serial number of failed request: 59
Current serial number in output stream: 60
I'm not the first one who gets this error message, but no solution from the internet seems to fix the problem (other distributions have fixes online, but not mandriva). Of course I'm a linux newbe, so maybe one of you has some lines of code I should enter at the console to get the problem fixed.
Here are the details about my graphics-card:
[root@localhost etc]# lspci | grep -i vga
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
[root@localhost etc]# grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Driver "kbd"
Driver "mouse"
Driver "synaptics"
Driver "intel"
Thanks!
