    Sound at Startup / Welcome

I am using Mandrake Linux and GNOME 2.4. I just like GNOME so much!

Well, I wanted to know how to add the functionality of playing a sound at the startup and the shutdown times just as it happens when you start and shut down Windows OS.

Well, GNOME does play a sound at the time of Logging off from a user's account.

    Hi,

Thanks for your support. I will try that. But from where can I download the required programs/drivers such as esound-0.2.32-2mdk?

They might be already installed on the system. First try the instructions to enable startup/shutdown sounds.

Applications > System > Configuration > Gnome > Sound Preference

My PC is not connected to Internet so I can't use URPMI. But thanks for that! Well, I will try the configuration part.

    Thanks a lot!
