[SOLVED] Putting Windows in Grub

I have windows and mandriva on 2 seperate partitions and when i look at /boot/grub/menu.lst it doesnt show windows in there. So i know i need to add in windows:

title WIndows XP
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1

But i dont know how to add this. I tried adding it in Kwrite but it says i need to be root. How do i become root and make this change. I can become root in Konsole but i dont know how to change it there. I am a rookie at coding so please, a step by step way of changing this would be much appreciated.

Press alt+F2 and type

kdesu kwrite /boot/grub/menu.lst
