I am totally new to linux guys i want to say hi to the community and i need some answers:
1.Is mandriva like windows interface wise.
2.When i have downloaded it what do i do?


Is mandriva like windows interface wise?
Well my Dad will be using it and he hates MAC to the core and likes windows interfaces google images makes me think mandriva has a windows interface.
When i have downloaded it what do i do?
Well it is an old laptop Dad wants to burn it on to a cd and boot from cd.
Is it easy as that?

You can set interface of any Linux Distribution the way you like.

2.When i have downloaded it what do i do?

You have to burn downloaded .iso image to CD/DVD. Do not extract .iso file. Select Burn Image to Disk option in your CD/DVD Burner package. Boot up machine from that CD/DVD to load it.

Well it is an old laptop Dad wants to burn it on to a cd and boot from cd.

Post specs of Laptop. We have to check if Mandirva is compatible to your Lappy.
