i think my name said it for me, but to make it sure:
Please don't cut my head off .. i'm a (ex-winXP) noob to Linux.
The problem might be simple, but i'm tired of trying out the wrong things over and over.

How do I set up my ethernet-card (ASUS A7N8X Deluxe - onboard 3COM), which is always connected to my DSL-Modem.
I just wanna go into the internet and just get no access .. no matter, what i do.

I think it was this forum, where i read, that disabling hotplugging for the ethernet did the job, but on this machine i just can't get ANYTHING to work.

HELP
