Using Kaffeine for playing DVD's
Hey. I'm having problems getting my DVD's to play in Kaffeine. I've got libdvdcss installed and followed several other methods for getting the DVD to run. Now I've sound but no picture. I ran this from the console and the text below is the output from running Kaffeine. I hope this makes sense.
John

Xine won't run either. The following error messages appear:
I found an article online from other users with the same problem. It was recommended to edit the xorg.conf file. So I added the following two lines in my video device sectionCode:X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) Major opcode of failed request: 141 (XVideo) Minor opcode of failed request: 19 () Serial number of failed request: 2314 Current serial number in output stream: 2315
Option "VideoRam" "65536"
Option "CacheLines" "1980"
This still did nothing even after a restart of the X Server. Any ideas? Below are my laptop specs.
Dell Inspiron 6400 Laptop
256MB Shared (Integrated) Video RAM
2GB RAM
40GB Free Hard Disk Space
Mandriva Spring 2008 (KDE)
Any help would be great.

Is it a Intel graphics chip? It looks like a driver issue(DRI maybe).
It might be using the "vesa" driver!
Have a look at /etc/X11/xorg.conf to see what driver it's using.
Look for the section "Device"

Yeah, using that awful graphics chip but not the 'vesa' driver, says 'intel'.
Here's my info:
Section "Device"
Identifier "device1"
VendorName "Intel Corporation"
BoardName "Intel 810 and later"
Driver "intel"
Option "DPMS"
Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps" "1"
Option "VideoRam" "65536"
Option "CacheLines" "1980"
EndSection

try putting the
Option VideoRam to 262144 as to reflect the actual amount you have in use
Code:Option "VideoRam" "262144"

That didn't do anything...still same error message. I've not had much time to look into it...busy working. It may be that graphics chipset but will eventually sort it.
