Network Connection Problems
Ok, i am having a few problems with linux. I cant get the bloody thing to connect up to my adsl internet connection. I have a adsl connection on a network of 5 computers. All running XP except one. Everytime i create a new network connection, I open Mozilla and try to go to google, andit tells me "The connection was refused when attempting to contact google.com"
This is how i am setting up my connection.
I go to 'New Connection'
Then i select 'Lan Connection'
I then choose my Ethernet Adapter
Choose 'Automatic IP'
Then i choose 'Assign host name from DHCP address'
I restart the computer, but i still have no luck.
PLEASEHELP
PS - I am new to linux.

Try disabling the "network hotplugging". It worked for me!
Good luck!

yeah that is disabled. Maybe it is an incompatability issue with my hardware. I am running a brand new modelmainbaord with built in Ethernet. Do youknow if the Nforce Chipsets are compatible with Mandrake 10?

Setting up networking
Hi, I just installed Mandriva 1 on an IBM Thinkpad T23. I also just set both the laptop and my desktop (a custom built running XP Pro) to a dsl modem/wireless router (one unit) and have full access to the internet from the laptop, but I also would like to set it up to be able to share files/run one from the other remotely through the network. How would I go about doing this? I am new to Linux, so I would appreciate any help at all. Thank you.
