You can use rpmdrake or urpmi for software management in Mandriva. Check here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

doesnt work

but when i am trying to install mysql through the same, it asks me following things.
please insert Installation i586 CD 1
please insert Installation i586 CD 2
please insert Installation i586 CD 3
what shall i do? is there anyway i can find these installation packages on internet ? and how shall i get them?

You already have a similar thread on th forum, so this one closed.
Like I mentioned in your othr thread, disable the cd/dvd installation source and then setup online sources using the instructions at easyurpmi.
