How the heck do I close this window?

This edition of Mandriva is buggy as hell. To masquerade that fact, they've decided to ship it with the buggiest desktop ever as default. So now you never know which bugs you actually bump into. Stupidity through obscurity I think it's called. Or something like that.
2008 was light years ahead.

You mean you click on the "x" in the top-right and nothing happens?
Try ctrl-alt-esc and then click on the window to kill it -- but be careful, this will kill the next thing you click on, so don't click on the desktop or the taskbar, or any other program you cherish
