Modem cannto be found

Hello,
i have installed Mandrake 9.0 in my pc and i have aslo Windows XP,
one day the pc had a problem so i go the pc to a enginner and it fixed it, after that my pc worked well and windows xp and 9.0 expect on eproblem, the winodws could not find the modem either couldn;t find linux but i fix it and in windows i can connect to the internet because it find the modem but in mandrake linux 9.0 it says cannot find modem, what can i do? please help me

another question? how can i find if I use a winmodem and if i do how can I fix it,thanks!
