Have you made sure that httpd (apache) is running? Check in mandrake control centre - services or somewhere like that.

run all these from a terminal as root in the order listed. they are found in /usr/bin/
mysql_install
mysql_secure_installation
mysqld_safe

I have a question too. I've installed MySQL from rpm package in Mandrake 10.0 . When I run command #mysql it returns "cannot connect to the host by the socket at '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'.
What I can do now to get it work?
Thanks for reading and helps.
