    Xd card not mounting

    on my toshiba a100 satellite the xd card reader isn't working (but it's working under windows)

    the card appears in the hardware section of the control center under unknown:
    Identification

    Vendor: ‎Texas Instruments

    Description: ‎PCIxx12 SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller

    Media class: ‎SD Host controller

    but i don't know how to mount it. it doesn't auto-mount and the device notifier doesn't see it.

    dmesg shows that the card is detected when plugged it or pulled out:

    tifm_core: SmartMedia/xD card detected in socket 0:0
    tifm0 : demand removing card from socket 0:0

    lspci sees it:
    07:06.2 Mass storage controller: Texas Instruments 5-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO/xD)
    07:06.3 SD Host controller: Texas Instruments PCIxx12 SDA Standard Compliant SDHost Controller

    Try running fdisk -l as root from a console and see if it sees the card.

    Plug-in reader and execute this
    Code:
    tail -s 3 -f /var/log/messages
    Post output here.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    to devils casper,

    I tried 'tail -s 3 -f /var/log/messages' this is what I got back "
    IFD Handler 2.0
    May 26 16:22:47 olga-laptop pcscd: readerfactory.c:1121:RFInitializeReader() Open Port 103F8 Failed (/dev/ttyS0)
    May 26 16:22:47 olga-laptop pcscd: readerfactory.c:994:RFUnloadReader() Unloading reader driver.
    May 26 16:22:47 olga-laptop pcscd: readerfactory.c:249:RFAddReader() ASEDriveIIIe Serial Reader init failed."

    that's just the fail messages. do you happen to know how to fix it? thanx Andrei
