So after a uneventful install of Mandriva Powerpack 2009 I was doing some configuring and noticed
that when I open up Konsole and try to perform a task that I need to log in as root it prompts for my password so I type that in and it tells me sorry wrong password so to test it out I went to synaptic package handler and installed a program it again prompts me for root password which I then was able to install using password. What the French Toast!! I need to be able to log in as root in Konsole so I was wondering what I am missing. I have run Ubuntu and Fedora and it is very easy what could I be missing? Konsole will not accept my root password as long as I am in the Konsole.

You're using synaptic with Mandriva?
Are you using sudo or su from the terminal?

type "whoami" at the prompt. If not root su to root then type in roots password.
