I had a similar problem loadong MDK 10.0 Official but I was originally using a USB mouse. I shut the box down and plugged in a conventional mouse with which the system and the install found acceptable.

Just for the record, that was on a Dell Dimension 300mhz w/128MB. I don't have that box anymore.
