    I need help on source code

    I am somewhat new but i have no clue on what you need or how to compile source code for programs that i am interested to have. some of these do not come in the package manager

    Mandriva 2008.1

    Programs not in your package manager may still be available as rpm packages and can be found using search engines as
    Considering you are using Mandriva I'd say compiling from source is your last resort. If you have to do this - usually there are building instructions inside of source tarball.

    There is also RPM Search.

    What programs are you looking at that aren't available?
