Mandrake Internet Connection
Hi guys. I just instlled today first time 9.1 linux mandrake (and this is my first linux too) and i have a problem. I am the ultimate noob so please dont laugh
.
Here is it.
I installed the network card and i'm trying to connect to the internet like in windows. I entered correctly the ip/subnet/gateway and in the dns filing spot i have to enter two dns ips like 200.200.200.1 and 200.200.200.10 like i do in windows. I think this is the problem because the gateway ip and the dns i enter there responses to ping correctly and it tries to connect to the internet cause it's downloading like 500 k there in the test connection window but it fails. Soo.. my question is how do i enter there 2 dns ? is there a separator like x.x.x.x / x.x.x.x or something cause i tried to find but i couldn't
or do i have to set up the second dns somewhere else?
here is my setup in windows :
ip 82.77.166.x
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway 82.77.166.1
DNS 1: 217.156.101.1
DNS 2: 217.156.101.10
Plz help and thanks in advance

the file you want is /etc/resolv.conf
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
can you not get it to auto detect these settings with dhcp ?
