You're supposed to type:
adduser <username>
passwd <username>
example)
adduser bob
passwd bob

login problem
well when i had problems logging in, i used the startx 2 command
startx -- :2
this command can be used with numbers 1-7. I know my computer has 7 set as default. but it's worth a try.
