[SOLVED] how to open tar.bz2 files
I do not understand how to open the tar.bz2 files, and there is a newer verson of firefox that i would like to get. Could someone please show me in full detailes of what to do. I'm very new to Mandriva 2008 verson.
here is the file name
firefox-3.6.tar.bz2

You can right click on the file and there should be an option to extract the contents of the file. Another option would be to do it from the command line e.g.
Code:tar xjvf firefox-3.6.tar.bz2

thank you, that is helpful.
but now it wont even upload firefox, when i placed it into the konsole. i think i'm doing something wrong, so i tried to do the extraction of the file and that wont upload could you tell me what to do please. Once i understand it, i'll be good to go.

do i use the konsole when i use those commands. I don't really understand it.

Yes, you use the console / konsole / terminal for the command given in post #2 above.

The best way, is to download the newest CD/DVD, burn it, reboot it and love it!
