Samba problem
Hi there,
I have installed samba and succeded to view my home network. The problem is that, the other pc's can not see me, even I can not see my self in that network. My workgroup name is catalogic. I am typing to any browser smb://catalogic and can see others.
I also edited the smb.conf file and changed the workgrop name but no way...can someone give me a trick about this problem.
p.s.: I also dont know my computer name
how to find it
Thanks

You have to give the user permission to gain access to linux from windows. On the linux box, type smbpasswd -a username. You'll then be prompted for a password.
For example, you have user ceviz on both lin and win, then type smbpassed -a ceviz. You should then be able to see your lin box from win.
