I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO INSTALL LINUX!
Oh my god , i will never be able to install linux!
Firstly , 2-3 years ago I TRIED to install mandrake 7 but unsuccesfully.
Now , i 've got the 3cd's of mandrake 10.1 but even now i cannot install them!!!!
The error is when i boot the cd with the help of floppy (the cd cannot be booted automatically even thought it is referred to the readme that it can be installed without floppy). The error:"Could not open compressed ramdisk file"
/systemroot/tmp/image/install/stage2/mdkinst_stage2.bz2
"
No idea!!!!
I tried to boot from the 2nd cd , but "this cd is not a linux cd"......
I am depressed because i will never be able to install them...i hate xp

Re: I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO INSTALL LINUX!
Please don't give up on Linux just because of problems with Mandrake. If you're starting from scratch, consider your options: Distrowatch is a respected source for information. I recommend Fedora for ease of install and no compromise for my uses. Others have their opinions. Mandrake is a good distro, and popular, but they apparently have an agonizing record for problems on install for a lot of would-be users.

What's wrong with Nero? That's how I burned my 10.1 .iso files.
